Adobe Lightroom Classic 12.0 was released in October 2022 and this version introduced a range of new features and updates that are designed to take your photos to the next level. With these new additions, you can achieve the best photo editing results by having full image control over your photos. Here’s a quick overview of what’s new:

1. Portrait Masks

One of the new additions to this Adobe Lightroom Classic version is the Portrait AI Masking tool. This powerful new feature allows you to quickly and easily select and isolate subjects in your photos, so you can make targeted edits without affecting the rest of the image. To use the Portrait Masking tool, start off in the Develop Module. Select the “Masking” tool > Choose the person/object you want to edit. After deciding on one, click on it, and it will open up a new section with various masking options to choose from, such as skin, eyes, teeth, and more.

2. Adjusting Mask

Though nothing much has changed in the Masking panel, there is one detail worth mentioning. If you want to add another person or object to the masking panel, hit the “+ Create New Mask” option and click on the “Select People”. After selecting your option, you can easily go through the same masking workflow.

3. New Background Mask

Quickly select a picture’s entire background with a single click of a button. From here, you can go in and make your adjustments to the background. It works like any other masking option but only a faster way to get to the background and modify it.

4. New Object Selection

The new Object Selection feature gives you more control over specific parts or areas in your photos. With a quick brush or rectangle select, Lightroom’s AI will automatically refine the edges to a precise selection. This new feature is great for flexibly masking objects with more precision than ever.

5. Content-Aware Remove

Lightroom’s new Content-Aware Remove feature is a lifesaver when it comes to quickly removing dust spots, blemishes, and other unwanted particles from your photos. To use the Content-Aware Remove tool, simply select the photo you want to retouch and then choose the “Healing” brush from the toolbar. Next, define the size and opacity of the brush and then click and drag it over the areas you want to heal. Lightroom will automatically analyze the selection and fill it in with best-suited generated content from other parts of the photo.

6. Enhanced Support For Presets

This new feature makes it easier than ever to manage and organize your presets. You can now access the Adaptive Presets to make specific changes to people, including their skin texture, teeth, etc. Plus, the Premium presets collection has been expanded with new smart presets that are designed to help you achieve the best photo editing results.

8. Display Parent Folder

Lightroom introduces the option to display the parent folder in the “Folder” panel by default for newly imported images in Preferences. This new feature is designed to help you keep your photos organized and easy to find.

9. Disable Auto-Advance For Auto-Import

Adobe Lightroom’s new “Disable Auto-Advance For Auto-Import” feature allows you to change the auto-advance setting during import in the Auto Import setting window. This new update gives you more control over your photo editing workflow and allows you to disable auto-advance for a more customized experience.

10. Bug Fixes & New Camera + Lens Support

Adobe Lightroom Classic 12.0 has updated its list of the latest supported cameras and lenses that the Camera-Raw plugin supports. The new update also includes overall bug fixes and performance improvements.
