We love Diane’s work and are proud to call her a valued ShootDotEdit customer. So much so that we picked out a few of our favorite images she captured and asked her to explain a bit how she got such incredible shots!
So without further ado — Diane Nicole Photography!
First thing Diane Nicole Photography says is thank you! How cool is that??”Thank you for giving me this opportunity to talk about my business and photography work. I’ll start by writing about the images that you have picked out for me to give insight on the what and how of it all.”
“This image was taken at The Grand Island Mansion in Mill Valley. This Venue is absolutely breathtaking and hands down one of my top favorite venues I’ve photographed at.
The time of day was about 2 hours from the golden hour and the couple was backlit between me and the sun. There was a big hill behind them which made the light feel more like golden hour since the sun was close to going down behind it.
The bride had a long cathedral length veil and any time the bride has a veil, I love taking shots like this. I’ll hand hold the veil and just start waving it in the air and snap snap snap away. Most of the time we have already been working most of the day together and I find that couples tend to already be very relaxed and good with me being super close to them.
I love it when I ask for them to just touch foreheads and close their eyes and just live in that moment. They naturally just melt into each other and you get all the feels from it. “
“This image was actually a styled shoot I did on the island of Oahu. I had the opportunity to photograph on KUALOA Ranch property for this session and it was designed to go with one of my blogs talking about the benefits of elopement.
The weather wasn’t the best (lots of rain and showers) but it did make for dramatic skies and a very moody setting. I wish and hope to be able to do that again. (Kualoa Ranch does have a wedding event venue FYI.)”
“The ring shot was taken at a wedding I shot in Pennsylvania — the venue was called Mountain Springs Lake Resort. I used their ring box as the base of this shot and was near a large window. I was able to use that light to highlight the rings and then darken the box a little more in the post to really pop out the rings from the dark box.
Also, when it comes to rings, I always photograph them with my Canon 100mm macro lens. I’ll do a wider shot with my 50, but typically the winner shots are done with the macro. I love how close you can get to the rings and how much detail you are able to get and really see those beautiful details that make rings so unique.
I have been so lucky with building beautiful relationships with my clients. This wedding, in particular, I was flown out to photograph a couple whom I photographed the bride’s siblings wedding a couple years prior. I have since photographed maternity and babies within this same family. They are the sweetest of people and such a wonderful family. “
