facebook business page tips

Social media platforms like Facebook have (quite literally) billions of users spending hours on their sites each and every day. Facebook is a fantastic venue to use to implement social media marketing for wedding photographers. Once you start posting, though, you will soon realize that the engagement you see varies dramatically. A lot of this has to do with the algorithms Facebook uses to distribute posts. However, even up against the ever-changing algorithms that are used, there are Facebook business page tips and strategies to maximize your engagement.

Facebook Business Page Tips

In our previous post, we shared how to increase interaction through tagging people in your photos (once they’re edited by professional photography editing services, like ShootDotEdit). In addition to tagging, you might be thinking, “When is a good time to post on Facebook?” So today, we are looking at Facebook and the best times to post, and more specifically, what days to post to maximize engagement.

What days are best?

It’s easy to assume Facebook has the same number of users each and every day of the week. However, social media actually picks up significantly in anticipation of the weekend, and Facebook is no exception.

Thursdays and Fridays are the best days to post on Facebook, as engagement spikes on these two days of the week. Most assume this is the anticipation of the upcoming weekend. Use these two days of the week to post your most engaging, exciting posts. For example, if you release one blog post per week, consider posting about it on Facebook on a Thursday or Friday. Use the images in your Facebook post that best represent your brand, and have been color corrected by photo editing services. If you use social media to create conversations with current and potential clients, these two days of the week have the most people engaging through liking, commenting, and sharing.

As an aside, if you need to post on the weekend, Sundays are by far the best of the two weekend days.

Facebook’s Happiness Index

In addition, Facebook revealed that their “Happiness Index” spikes by over 10% on Friday. According to this article published by the Huffington Post, a team of Facebook data scientists mined status updates for keywords. Using the sentiments expressed in the posts, they were able to measure the overall mood of people at different times on Facebook. National and social holidays are some of the very happiest days of the year. And, Fridays represent a 9.7% increase in happiness over Mondays!

When you know when to post on Facebook for business, when people are accessing the site, and the days that they are happiest, this can help you plan what you want to post.
