First, the team at ShootDotEdit would like to thank all of you who participated in the FREE post production contest last week. It was a huge success and this promo really went viral (amazing at how quick things travel on twitter, its like word of mouth on steroids). If your not on Twitter yet, sign up here and follow us @SuperDotMan and @ShootDotEdit.
In no particular order, here are a few recent “I Want My Life Back” Tweets & emails. These were 6 of our favorites that came from new customers that were ALL FINISHED handling their own Post Production!
1. “Where have you been all my life? I am so excited to have found your service. Maybe now I can stop wearing a name tag around my kids. Ha-ha. Tell me more! I want my life back, so I can shoot more people.”
2. “I need ShootDotEdit, I am sick of not sleeping and being away from my family!!!”
3. “Hello! I’ve lost my life to photography!:) A fellow photog in the cities here recommended your services to me. Admittedly, while the idea of getting my life back sounds awesome, it’s a very scary jump to give over editing to someone else! But I thought I’d inquire as I’m seriously considering it.”
4. “Hey!! I have been really interested in outsourcing my post processing but have been having a hard time finding a company that I really love, and then I found you! my heart literally skipped a beat!”
5. “I am a wife, mother, teacher, and photographer (among other things)……You sound perfect for me to be able to shoot what I want and when I want without the stress of editing. I was wishing there was someone who could do it for me. Here you are!!”
6. “Looking to turn my light off at night and grow my business. Signed – yet another control freak up here in Canada :)”
Also, DON’T FORGET, only 5 days left to take advantage of our DotBucks Sale!!! Need more info, shoot us an email: firstname.lastname@example.org
In 2006, Jared and I were at the end of our rope. Serendipitously, we met at a private networking event and quickly realized our passion for photography and disdain for the wedding edit requirements that come with it. At the end of the evening, we new we needed to continue our conversation.
After several months of long meetings at coffee shops and a few fish tacos at our favorite taco stand, we decided to DO SOMETHING and solve our problem. We went on a hunt to find the perfect post production gurus. We spent long nights and countless hours designing microsystems for quality and efficiency. Ultimately, about 6 months later we hired a full-time editing crew and began living life free of post production. Our studios were now free to soar.., and so were we.
Never in a million years did we imagine that our efforts to get our lives back and be set free from the mire of post production would also extend itself to the professional photography industry and become what is now known as ShootDotEdit. Almost 4 years later, ShootDotEdit has the fortunate privilege of giving professional photographers their life back in a host of different ways.
Our commitment to lead the post production industry with dependable quality and swift turn around times is now allowing us to serve over 700 professional photographers in over 12 countries worldwide. As of 12 noon on December 31, 2009, we will have processed 1,756,285 images for our customers! That equates to about a total of 19,691 hours of staring at the computer! And, well, we are very proud of that because that is 19,691 hours that our customers were able to put towards other areas of their life and business bringing more joy and more profit!

Well, the time has come. We have post poned offering FTP as a viable UPLOAD solution because the classic FTP protocol can be such a nightmare. And, as much as we believe in customer service and love engaging with our customers, the complications that come with FTP are gigantic, and we did not want to get into that tangled web, nor did we want to put our customers in it.
And so, here we are, on the eve of February 23, 2010, we are uber excited to launch our custom developed Web Uploader. Now, if you prefer, you can now kick to the curb all of your data packaging and trips to FedEx, UPS, and the Post Office! That’s right, with our new uploader, you won’t even need to purchase a third party FTP solution. NOPE, not anymore. Now, you can stay within the comfort of your cherished DotTracker and send straight from your computer.
STEP 1: When submitting your job, CHOOSE the Web Upload option
STEP 2: CLICK on the UPLOAD button. 1 Click is all you need 🙂
STEP 3: Verify & Viola’!!!
And, well, that’s it! And, of course, if MAIL is still your preferred method of sending jobs, great.
We support mail too. We have more exciting updates we’re preparing for release before WPPI, so be on the lookout!
Cheers to no more editing,
Alright…, it’s time to showcase one of our many uber talented customers, Amy DeYoung. She is a stellar photographer with accolades ta’ boot! But, don’t let all the ‘Features’ and ‘Covers’ from top industry magazines fool you. If anyone ‘really’ knows photographers after all the smoke and mirrors subsided, we do. And, Amy is a ‘what you see, is what you get’ kind of girl.
Amy is married to her best friend Paul and resides in San Antonio, TX with her son and 2 dogs. She is passionate about capturing real moments. And so, it’s probably safe to say that being a professional photographer was not chosen by her, but rather received as a divine gift and then fanned into flames by her well suited passion. It is ‘behind the lense’ that she finds her inspiration. And, with her pursuit to create timeless works of art, she finds inspiration in the nuances that happen with people in real moments (ie. a blushing bride, a newborn baby, a family strolling through the park, a child full of innocence, or a man winking at the woman he loves, etc.).
Also, ShootDotEdit applauds Amy for taking steps to set herself and her brand apart. Recently, she launched her brand new website that incorporates ‘Fusion’ and also incorporates the fantastic product by David Jay, Show It Sites. Amy, very well done 🙂
If you would like to check out Amy’s work, CLICK HERE. In the meanwhile, here are a few clips from her work we thought we would share! Oh, Amy, you rock. Keep up the good work!!!
